Description
Jem Southam is known for his large-format landscape photographs that often capture the subtle changes and effects of time on the natural world. Southam has exhibited extensively and his work is held in the collections of major museums and galleries, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Tate, London; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. He has been the recipient of several awards, including the Citibank Photography Prize in 1998 and a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2004. Southam is currently Emeritus Professor of Photography at the University of Plymouth.
